Navy to witness two powers meet: Narendra Modi and INS Vikramaditya
This is likely to be the first time that a national leader will be visiting the largest warship of the Indian Navy that made a non-stop journey from Russia to Mumbai in December. This would also be the first public display of the aircraft carrier's capabilities.
The Navy team is making all arrangements for the Prime Minister to embark with his team the next weekend of June 14-15 when he will be on the warship off the western coast for a few hours. In fact, Modi will also be shown the functional capabilities of the warship that is designed for take-offs and landings by the MiG 29 K fighters.
As per the Indian Express, INS Vikramaditya is finally battle ready. Navy Chief Admiral Robin Dhowan has said that the aircraft carrier is fully functional and there are adequate number of trained pilots who can operate from the floating ship.
Defence Minister Arun Jaitley is also likely to visit the defence establishments as he is scheduled to be in Mumbai today. He is likely to envisage other aircraft carriers like INS Viraat.
