UP shocker: National level fencing player pushed off train by Railway police for Rs 200, dies

Lucknow, July 24: In a shocking incident, a national level fencing player died after being pushed off a moving train by government railway police (GRP) personnel.

The incident took place in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh when victim Hoshiyar Singh was returning from passenger train along with his mother, wife and child.

Reportedly, an altercation broke out between Singh and GRP personnel, when former had moved into women's coach to enquiry about the health of his ailing mother.

An argument broke out after Singh was told to get down or pay fine of Rs 200. When fencing player refused paying fine, he allegedly was pushed off the moving train by GRP personnel.

Jyoti Singh, wife of player was quoted by IBN as saying, "He had come to see us in the women's coach when the police officials came. I pleaded with them to let me talk to my husband but they didn't let him. They pushed him off the train and he was crushed to death".

Inconsolable family members have demanded strict punishment for the cruel act of the Railway police.
