No more Bollywood stars, Narendra Modi to be the next brand ambassador of Incredible India campaign

By Oneindia Staff Writer

New Delhi, Nov 7: It's been a while since we have been waiting for the announcement of the next brand ambassador of the Incredible India campaign.

Now, reports say Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to become the new mascot of the campaign.

The role has been lying vacant since the ouster of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan earlier this year.

Sources say Toursim Ministry has decided to do away with appointing any Bollywood actor to feature in the campaign.

All these months, names of several big Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar were doing rounds to succeed Aamir Khan.

"No Bollywood actor will be engaged for the campaign aimed at attracting foreign travellers; instead Prime Minister Modi's videos, where he has spoken about tourism in India and abroad, will be used for the campaign," a senior ministry official told PTI.

"The ministry is planning to use--for radio and audio release -- two types of videos of different durations where PM Modi had talked about the uniqueness and diversity of the various places in the country," the official added.

Incredible India is the name of the marketing campaign started by the central government to promote India as one of the best tourist destinations of the world in 2002.
