Narada: CBI can continue probe against TMC MP Aparupa Poddar says HC
The Calcutta High Court on Friday directed the CBI to continue its probe against Aparupa Poddar, TMC MP in connection with the Narada sting case. The MP from Arambagh in West Bengal had sought quashing of the FIR against her in connection with the case.
The CBI had listed out several names who were part of the Narada sting case. Several ministers were approached after a fictitious company was set up. The minsters were asked for favours in return for money and this was caught on tape.
The Calcutta High Court had ordered that the CBI probe the case. The matter was taken to the Supreme Court by the West Bengal government, but it failed to get any relief. The Supreme Court on Tuesday maintained that the Narada Sting operation would be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The Narada Sting operation had created a storm ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections 2016. It showed 12 TMC ministers and leaders accepting bribes. The sting came out at a time when several TMC members were also embroiled in the Saradha case.
