Bengaluru, April 6: At the time when technology is advancing fast, the desktops are becoming outdated, as mobile-based applications are replacing them soon.

In an era of smart-phones, e-commerce shopping portals and wireless technology, one need not sit in front of laptops and desktops for online shopping. With mobile-based apps, one can shop anywhere and anytime.

According to media reports, the online fashion retailer Myntra will shut its website from May 1 and will completely become mobile app-based version, in one of its giant leap.

Last year in May, leading e-commerce platform Flipkart announced it was acquiring Myntra, for an undisclosed amount. [Flipkart buys out Myntra fashion e-retailer]

A report published in TOI said, "Myntra presently draws as much as 80% of its traffic and 70% of sales from its mobile app."

On Feb 7 this year, Myntra co-founder Mukesh Bansal had said Myntra is 100% focused on mobile.

Both Myntra and Flipkart had closed their mobile websites last month.

According to an India Today report, users have slammed the e-commerce portal's move of completely going mobile-based.

Some shoppers said that they find mobile-app difficult to browse, while there were few buyers who find the app convenient.

Flipkart is also likely to follow the footsteps of Myntra in the coming months.
