Muthalik ban on entering Goa upheld by Supreme Court

New Delhi, Aug 31:The Supreme Court has upheld the ban imposed on Shri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik from entering Goa.

Muthalik had moved the Supreme Court after he was prevented from entering Goa after the administration had cited law and order problems.

Muthalik in his petition had challenged the decision by the Goa government barring his entry into the state.

He had told the Supreme Court that his fundamental rights were being violated and there was an unseen hand both in Delhi and Goa which had orchestrated this ban.

Are you a moral police

The ban was first upheld by the Bombay High Court following which Muthalik preferred a petition before the Supreme Court. However the Supreme Court did not stop at just upholding the ban, but had some harsh words for Muthalik too.

In its observation, the Supreme Court said, " let him not enter Goa- at least for another six months. Are you dong moral policing? What are you doing in Mangalore? Beating up girls in the pub?

The High Court is justified in stopping you from entering Goa, the Bench also added while indicating that the ban shall be in effect for another six months.

Muthalik in his petition challenged the July 2 order of the Bombay High Court's Goa Bench.

He had said that the ban order is oppressive, repressive, unjust, unfair, arbitrary and clearly an abuse of process of law for extraneous and political reasons.
