Larsen and Toubro (L&T) bagged the Rs. 959 crore contract of the Maharashtra government for securing Mumbai with the CCTV network.

In December, Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis inaugurated the first phase of this project with 1,381 CCTV's installation at 434 locations in south Mumbai.

The CCTV network will help maintain law and order, investigation, gathering evidence and managing traffic of the city.

Sensitive locations like Bombay High Court, Sassoon Dock, Bombay Stock Exchange, Crawford Market, Metro junction, Girgaum Chowpaty and Nariman Point were put under surveillance by this network.

As per promise made in inaugural function, second phase of the CCTV network was to be activated before anniversary of 26/11 terror attack.

The state government kept the promise and installed around 6,000 CCTVs across the mega-polis, the official said.
