Padmavat Row : Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar assures security to movie halls | Oneindia News

With the Rajput Karni Sena on rampage ahead of Padmaavat's release, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has assured that security would be provided to movie halls that decide to screen the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film.

On Sunday, a mall in Kurukshetra, Haryana, was vandalised by 20-22 miscreants and the police are suspecting that it was over the movie Padmaavat.

"If someone decides not to screen the film it will be good but if someone screens the film, they will be provided security. It is our duty to comply with Supreme Court's order," Khattar told the media.

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan Governments have moved the Supreme Court seeking modification of the order which lifted the ban on the movie Padmaavat. Both governments have said owing to law and order problems and sentiments, the movie cannot be screened in their respective states.

Last week, the producers of the film had moved the court seeking to lift the ban imposed on some states on the movie. The states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan had banned the release of the movie.

The Supreme Court while lifting the ban said that it is the constitutional duty of a state to ensure that law and order is maintained and security is provided. The court also rejected another petition which sought a ban on the movie. The court said that once the CBFC has certified the film, a question of a ban does not arise.
