Monsoon updates: Widespread rains expected in Northern parts of India
IMD's latest bulletin said there could be widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over UP, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi in the next 2 days.
New Delhi, July 27: Heavy rains brought Delhi to grinding halt yesterday (July 26) and more showers are likely in the areas near the NCR today. The met department has predicted rain for most parts of the day and this could be the case throughout the weekend.
IMD's latest bulletin said there could be widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi in the next 2 days.
"The
low
pressure
area
lies
over
central
parts
of
Uttar
Pradesh.
This
system
is
likely
to
remain
quasi-stationary
and
thereby
cause
widespread
rainfall
with
isolated
heavy
to
very
heavy
rainfall
over
Uttar
Pradesh,
Uttarakhand,
Himachal
Pradesh,
Haryana,
Chandigarh
&
Delhi
and
Northwest
Madhya
Pradesh
during
next
2
days.
Extremely
heavy
rainfall
is
also
likely
at
isolated
places
over
West
Uttar
Pradesh
during
this
period," the
IMD
bulletin
said.
"It is likely that the system may become more marked once again during the next 48 hours. Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls are likely over Punjab, East Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh during next 2 days. A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over eastern part of West Bengal & neighbourhood during next 2-3 days. Enhancement in rainfall activity likely over northeastern states from 28th July," it added.
Skymet predicted that Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand would witness fairly widespread rain, with heavy falls along the foothills of Himachal and Uttarakhand.
