Monsoon update: Heavy rain likely in Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh
New Delhi, July 22: The axis of monsoon trough passes through Anupgarh, Sikar, Agra, Gwalior, Allahabad, Daltonganj and towards East central Bay of Bengal.
The IMD's bulletin on Sunday predicted that the Depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal (BOB) moved northwestwards with a speed of 07 kmph during past 06 hours and crossed north Odisha West Bengal coasts between Balasore and Digha during 16301730 hours IST and lay centred at 1730 hours IST of today, the 21st July 2018 over the north coastal Odisha and adjoining coastal West Bengal & Northwest Bay of Bengal near latitude 21.7°N and longitude 87.4°E, about 55 km eastnortheast of Balasore, 40 km westsouthwest of Digha. It is very likely to move northwestwards for some more time and then westnorthwestwards. It is very likely to maintain its intensity during next 12 hours and gradually weaken into a well marked low pressure area during subsequent 24 hours.
''The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Anupgarh, Jaipur, Shivpuri, Tikamgarh, Varanasi, Jamshedpur, centre of depression over north coastal Odisha and adjoining coastal West Bengal & northwest Bay of Bengal and thence southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal,'' it also said.
According to the IMD's prediction on the distribution of rainfall this monsoon, Heavy to very heavy rain at a few places with extremely heavy fall at isolated places very likely over Chhattisgarh; heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy fall at isolated places very likely over Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha; heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over Uttarakhand, West Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic west Bengal,Jharkhand, Konkan & Goa, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka and heavy rain at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Kerala.
