Monsoon Session: Chandrababu Naidu requests all MPs to support TDP's no trust vote
Amaravati, July 19: TDP President and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has written a letter to all the Members of Parliament, seeking support for the No Confidence Motion moved by the party in the Lok Sabha against Prime Minister Narendra Modi government.
The Lok Sabha would take up on Friday the debate on an opposition-sponsored no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government brought by the TDP and opposition parties, with Speaker Sumitra Mahajan admitting the notice.
The Opposition parties brought in no-confidence motion against the government on issues like Grant of special status to Andhra Pradesh, lynchings, atrocities against women and dalits and dilution of a law meant for Scheduled Caste.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu had been holding talks with various parties and their respective chiefs, including those from the TMC, DMK, CPI(M), RJD, SP and the BSP. Naidu, who walked out of the alliance with BJP earlier this year, has already got his MPs to talk to leaders and put forward the case.
The Congress led by former party president Sonia Gandhi was seen pressing for the motion in the lower house in what could turn out to be a test of opposition unity ahead of the general elections next year.
The current strength of the Lok Sabha is 535 and the BJP with 273 MPs has a clear majority in the House along with its allies.
