Meat exporter Moin Qureshi arrested by ED
Meat exporter Moin Qureshi has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate. He is being questioned in connection with some pending cases against him.
The ED had issued summons to him in the past. He was arrested in Delhi on Friday night and will be produced before the court today.
Last month the ED had carried out searches in two South Delhi vaults after receiving specific information about the billionaire meat exporter Moin Qureshi. It was suspected that he had used hawala channels to transfer money with the help of a money changer.
The ED had seized jewellery and some papers with suspicious transactions. Following this the ED sent out letters to various countries seeking details about the seizures. He will be questioned in connection with these seizures, ED officials said.
The probe on hand related to the AQM group of companies. It was alleged money had been moved for illegal gratification. Further during the probe, his links with two CBI officials was also probed.
The ED also looked into an intelligence report that Qureshi was using hawala channels to transfer money with the help of a money exchange in Delhi. The agency also carried out searches in Kailash Colony from where documents and jewellery were seized.
