Martyrs' Day faux pas: Chandigarh civic body puts photos of US soldiers on 'Shaheedi Diwas' posters
Chandigarh, March 23: On a day which is being observed as 'Saheedi Diwas' across the country to honour the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation ended up by committing a major goof-up.
The municipal corporation actually put up hoardings across the city on the occassion of Martyr's Day, but to everyone's surprise, these hoarding carried picture of three US soldiers instead of Indian Army soldiers.
Interestingly, the picture was tampered with and flipped to hide the US flags.

The poster reads, "Municipal Corporation Saluted the Martyrs of the Nation" and below the tagline, there is a controversial photograph of three US soldiers.
The major blunder has been done just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Hussainiwala in Punjab. PM is scheduled to visit the area to pay homage to freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
The last rites of the three great freedom fighters were performed in Hussainiwala on March 23, 1931.
During the journey, Prime Minister will also visit Jallianwala Bagh ground where hundreds of innocent Indians attending a rally where shot dead by British troops on April 13, 1919.
Modi will address a 'Shridhanjali Samaroh' at Hussainiwala, about 260 km from here and close to the India-Pakistan border.
Born in September 1907, Bhagat Singh, one of the most influential revolutionaries of the Indian independence movement.
Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were tried for killing British Superintendent of Police Saunders on December 17, 1928, and were awarded the death sentence.
