Manipur: BJP office vandalised by students' association
Imphal, March 1: With three days to go for the first phase of assembly polls in Manipur, volunteers of Kangleipak Students Association vandalised the BJP's main office in Imphal on Wednesday.
A group of KSA members first gathered at the gate and demanded to meet BJP leaders but when they were told that none was present they went on the rampage, damaged furniture in the office and broke the glass panes of its windows, BJP sources said.
The students left the place shouting slogans and the police was called in by BJP workers.
Earlier, KSA members had reprotedly tried to storm the Congress Bhavan in Imphal but women office bearers of the party managed to handle the situation by placating the agitating students.
Congress sources said the students were demanding the withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur. Police said investigation into the incident was on but none were arrested.
Polling for the 60-seat Manipur assembly would be held on March 4 and March 8.
