Mangaluru receives highest rainfall in a day
A day after heavy rains lashed Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy in an early morning teleconference with the deputy commissioners of both the the districts assured relief to the coastal areas.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Shashikant Senthil said the rainfall in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district is the affect of arrivals of monsoons. He said that the rainfall is not caused by the cyclone Mekunu. The district administration has ensured civilians of safety and suggested them to remain at home till the situation gets better.

NDRF, SDRF in Mangaluru
State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Defence and other teams with sufficient rescue equipment rushed to Mangaluru to provide rescue services in the affected areas due to the torrential rains. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has reviewed the situation in Mangaluru and other areas after the reports of heavy rains in coastal Karnataka.
