New Delhi: Furthering its investigation and crackdown against militants operating in the North East, the National Investigating Agency has netted yet another major fish. This time it is one hardcore militant who goes by the name, Singmayo Kapai alias Kapai a member of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Issak- Muivah).

Referred to as Captain, this militant had played a major role in the ambush of the army personnel who were killed in Tupi village, near Khonsa on April 2, 2015. His arrest is a major development for the National Investigating Agency which is currently questioning him. During his questioning, he has revealed the local links and also how the attack on the army personnel had been planned.

NIA

The NIA is also looking for the trail of weapons that were used in the attack in which the army personnel had been killed. An officer with the NIA says that the investigations would help ascertain the structure of the outfit and how it is operating in the North Eastern states of India. Over the past couple of months, the NIA has made several such arrests apart from seeking the extradition of several operatives who are hiding outside the country.

An NIA official informed OneIndia that they are conducting the investigations step by step as it is extremely complex in nature. Most of these outfits are inter-connected which makes the job even more harder. It is necessary to track down their sympathisers and local support mechanism in order to weaken them.

Another additional problem that the NIA faces is tracking down the financial networks which have ensured that there is a constant supply of funds for such outfits as a result of which they carry on with their activities.
