Mahadayi: Arguments touch feverish pitch at tribunal
The hearing at the Mahadayi tribunal witnessed some heated arguments between Karnataka and Goa. The exchange comes in the backdrop of the statements made by Goa Minister Vinod Pyalekar. Karnataka had alleged that the minister had used abusive language against Kannadigas on January 1 2018.
Atmaram Nadkarni appearing for Goa said, 'perhaps the engineers of Karnataka are wiser than Karnataka's witness.'
Mohan Katarki appearing for Karnataka shot back and said, "don't make sarcastic remarks. I can make similar remarks against the Goa witnesses."
This is not correct language, Nadkarni retorted. Katarki responded by saying, "You are talking of language. Goa has touched a new low. We don't want to show now what language the Goa Minister had used. But I will point out when my turn comes."
I do not take instructions from the ministers, Goa's counsel said to which Katarki responded by saying, "we all take instructions from our clients. Government of Goa is your client and you have taken instructions from the Minister."
