Lucknow University closes doors for students on Valentine's day

The university issued advisory to its students to not to roam inside the premises of the university on Valentine's Day (14.2.2018).

Lucknow University closed its doors for students on Valentine's day after issuing an advisory on Tuesday that students will not be allowed to roam inside the university premises on Valentine's Day. University wore a deserted look as no student was allowed to enter the premises.

The university issued advisory to its students to not to roam inside the premises of the university on Valentine's Day (14.2.2018). Disciplinary action will be taken against whosoever is found violating the advisory. Also, the varsity indirectly asked students to celebrate 'Maha Shivratri' and avoid the influence of 'Western' culture.

Students called the advisory on Valentine's Day, 'an example of chhoti soch (lowly thinking,' add that, 'You've declared a holiday on that day, but telling students to not enter university premises isn't right at all. If we won't enter the university, then who will?'.

The Hindu quoted chief proctor Vinod Singh saying that no classes or extra classes would be held on the campus on February 14. Exams or cultural programmes of any sort would also be not allowed. "If anyone breaches the system and is found roaming around or sitting unnecessarily in the academic section of the university, administrative action will be taken against them as per the rule," Mr. Singh said in his order.
