Lashkar overtakes Hizbul in the Valley

An increased number of cease fire violations were resorted to by Pakistan in a bid to provide cover-fire.

The Lashkar-e-Tayiba has overtaken the Hizbul Mujahideen in terms of strength in the Kashmir Valley. Out of the 250 odd terrorists present in the Valley, at least 140 belong to the Lashkar-e-Tayiba.

The rest are from the Hizbul Mujahideen and the newly launched fringe al-Qaeda group headed by Zakir Musa. Reports state that at least 100 of the Lashkar militants are from Pakistan while the rest are locals.

This is a clear sign of the aggression with which Pakistan is pursuing the issue. It wants more of its terrorists to flood the Valley. Security officials say that there is a great push to infiltrate more terrorists and the frequent cease fire violations are an indication of this.

An increased number of cease fire violations were resorted to by Pakistan in a bid to provide cover-fire to the terrorists, security officials also pointed out. For the security agencies the primary focus would be the Lashkar-e-Tayiba. The Indian Army which has launched 'Operation Clean Up," says that they first focus on the foreign militants before they deal with the locals.
