Krishna Janmashtami 2017: Lessons to learn from Bhagavad Gita

|

On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, let's take a pledge of inculcating a piece of Lord Krishna in our lives. Bhagavad Gita is an epic scripture that has the answers to all our problems. It was considered a spiritual dictionary by Mahatma Gandhi and was a book of inspiration for many leaders of the Independence movement.

Lessons to be learnt from Bhagavad Gita

Here are a few teachings by Shri Krishna in Bhagvad Gita:

Change is the law of the universe. You can be a millionaire, or a pauper in an instant.

You must be aware that nothing is permanent in our lives. If you have failed in achieving something in Life that doesn't mean that it would remain forever. Accepting that change can make you coherent enough to face any tough situations in your life.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is:

The words have been said more than 2 thousand years ago, are still relevant today. Belief is any state which is held to be true. In other words, our belief is exactly what we believe in. It's the way how we look at the world around us, the way how we perceive it. If you let sad thoughts take over your mind, you tend to become a sad person. However, if you're not prepared and feel nervous then you might make a blunder.

When meditation is mastered, the mind is unwavering like the flame of a lamp in a windless place.

Bhagvad Gita advocates the benefits of meditation. One must take out a few minutes from our busy schedules and sit in dhyana to attain inner peace.

We're kept from our goal not by obstacles, but by a clear path to a lesser goal.

'Dream big' is the message. In Bhagvad Gita, Krishna says if you're dreaming about buying a house, you can't keep it on hold by dreaming about a motorcycle. Although small goals are important, forgetting your ultimate goal will only stunt your growth. Don't settle for less, strive hard to achieve the bigger goals.
