Krishna, Dec 8: Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh has not learnt its lesson after the Hooch tragedy in 2012 that claimed the lives of 19 people and hospitalised over 40.

While spurious liquor continues to flow freely in the district, a recent incident in a village has woken up authorities yet again.

Liquor

When Krishna District Collector Babu A visited some tribal villages, he received complains of a few locals brewing up illicitly distilled liquor. It was also alleged that spurious liqor were transported to the village from the borders of Khammam.

On informing the Khammam collector, several raids were made in villages bordering Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and bootleggers were booked.

The victims who suffered from profuse bleeding after consuming the spurious liquid, narrated their plight.

"I took BP brand liquor at the bar around 10.15 a.m., and after coming out of the bar, I vomited and collapsed. Somebody shifted me to a hospital," G. Subba Rao, a victim who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, said.

Meanwhile, police is planning to question MLA Malladi Vishnu, who is said to have links with the Swarna Bar where the incident happened.
