A day after inviting Karnataka MLAs 'to unwind' at the resorts of the state, the Kerala tourism department has deleted the tweet on Wednesday. The Kerala Tourism department had extended the invitation through its official twitter handle.
The tweet said, "After the rough and tumble of the Karnataka Verdict, we invite all the MLAs to unwind at the safe & beautiful resorts of God's Own Country. #ComeOutAndPlay".
The post came just hours after Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan asked the JD(S) and the Congress to form the government. Karnataka election results show BJP falls short of 112 majority mark despite being the single largest party. In its attempt to form a government, Congress agreed to back a JDS-led coalition with HD Kumaraswamy as chief minister.
Till the filing of the story on Tuesday the tweet had got 5515 retweets and 9041 likes. The department deleted the twwet for the reason best known to them
Kerala Tourism attracted media attention with their tweet as Karnataka was heading to a hung assembly as no party got a clear majority. The BJP won 104 seats and the Congress 78. The JDS got 38 seats. Following the fractured mandate 'resort-politics' and 'horse-trading' were back in political discussions in the state.
Whenever there is a hung assembly post elections, talks of 'horse trading' and 'MLA poaching' start doing rounds. Now that the political situation is precariously poised in Karnataka, there are talks that the BJP may approach the JD (S) and Congress MLAs, and cajole them to switch sides.
