Kerala: Youth Congress leader hacked to death in Kannur
Shuhaib was brutally injured was taken to medical college but died on the way. Two Congress workers were also injured in the attack and are undergoing treatment.
Youth Congress leader was hacked to death and two others injured in the incident in Kannur on Monday night. Congress alleged that CPI-M is behind the murder and have called for a day-long 'hartal' in the district.
Youth Congress worker, Mattannoor Shuhaib (30), was hacked to death attacked by the mob using sharp weapons and after locally made bombs were hurled at him by a group of people. Brutally injured Shuhaib was rushed to medical college but died on the way. Two injured Congress workers are undergoing treatment.
Police have booked a case and begun investigation.Cases under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 324 voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 302 (read with 34) of the IPC and sections 3 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act have been registered. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident and further investigations were on, police said.
Kannur is a politically sensitive district in north Kerala. The violence involving the workers of the CPM, RSS and BJP combine has claimed more than 250 lives and left hundreds maimed in the district in the last five decades.
