Kerala Catholic Bishops send memorandum to PM over NCW's proposal
Trivandrum, July 27: Kerala Catholic Bishops Conference has sent a memorandum to PM over National Commission of Women's proposal to abolish the practice of confessions in church.
Archbishop of Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum, Soosai Pakiam, said, "NCW chairperson shouldn't dictate that you abolish this."
The National Commission for Women has said that the government must intervene to abolish the practice of confessions in Churches as they come in the way of security and safety of women. The observations were made while submitting a report on the two sex scandals in Churches in Kerala.
The Commission has sought a probe by a Central agency into the two sex scandals. We have recommended a probe by a central agency into these scandals because such incidents are on the rise in Kerala, Rekha Sharma, chairperson of the NCW said.
