KCR’s extravagance with taxpayer’s money: Rs 5.6cr ‘gift’ to gods

The gifts, all part of his ‘vows’ when he was campaigning for separate statehood for Telangana are being given using the exchequer's treasury

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to gift ornaments worth Rs 5.6 crore to Tirumala on Wednesday. The gold ornaments that will be presented to lord Balaji and Goddess Padmavati at the Tirumala temple is said to be a thanksgiving gift. Chandrasekhar Rao, his family and ministers will travel to the hill shrine to fulfil a vow Rao had taken during campaigning for the creation of a separate Telangana.

One of the gifts KCR is supposed to offer to the Tirupati Gods.

The whopping Rs 5.6 crore 'gift' comes at the cost of taxpayers money. The chief minister is expected to present a 14.20 kg Saligram Haram, a golden necklace costing about Rs 3.70 crore and 4.65 kg Kanta Abharanam costing Rs 1.20 crore.

He will also present a nose stud to Goddess Padmavati during his visit. He had previously gifted a golden crown worth Rs 3.65 crore weighing 11.700 kg to Goddess Bhadrakali in Warangal. The chief minister is also expected to gift a golden moustache to Veerbhadraswamy.

The expensive gifts are all part of his vows, when he as an individual was campaigning for a separate state of Telangana but now as its chief minister is using exchequer's treasury to splurge on the offerings. He will take a special flight to Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday evening and offer the gifts during special pujas on Wednesday.
