Kashmir: Local cricket team sings Pakistan national anthem

A Kashmiri local cricket club was seen wearing Pakistani jersey and singing their national anthem.

A video showing a local cricket team from Pakistan sporting the Pakistan national cricket team's jersey and singing the national anthem has surfaced. In the video the team is also heard singing the national anthem of Pakistan.

According to reports, the cricket match was held on April 2 at Wayil grounds in Ganderbal when separatists had called for a protest against Modi's visit in Jammu and Kashmir for the inaugural function of Chenani-Nashri tunnel.

The opponents can be seen wearing white jerseys. Prior to the match, the commentator prior also made an announcement that the national anthem of Pakistan would be played as a mark of respect.

However, the names of the team are yet to be confirmed. It is believed that Baba Darya Ud Din team was the one wearing a green kit, symbolising Pakistan, and the other side was wearing a white kit.

On March 31, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had accused Pakistan of using the social media to incite youths in Kashmir to storm encounter sites to help holed-up militants. The minister was responding to Saugata Roy of TMC expressing concern saying the situation in the Kashmir Valley was very grave and seeking his intervention.
