Karnataka: Voice of the oppressed, no talks only action says resigned Anupama Shenoy
Bengaluru, June 8: Moved to undisclosed location after the resignation that raked up massive storm in the state of Karnataka, KPS Anupama Shenoy in a text message to OneIndia said "no talks, only action".
Anupama Shenoy resigned as Deputy Superintendent of Police of Kudligi of Bellary district on Saturday June 4 after a chunk of people staged protest demonstration against Shenoy.
However Shenoy cited political pressure and liquor mafia as key reasons for her resignation.
Post resignation, 2010 KPS cadre officer made herself unavailable to media and moved to undisclosed location. Following this she has waged war against Labour Minister Parameshwar Naik.
In one post she challenged Naik as to when he would resign and in failing to do so she would release CD that should be viewed only in the midnight. In the post she jokingly warned that the CD is not meant for children. Naik is also the district-in-charge minister of Bellary.
She has also sent out series Facebook posts that kept media guessing on her next move and reasons for relinquishing from the post. When this news portal contacted her seeking an interview, she sent a text message saying she does not talk but only act.
Shenoy to a request, "is it possible to speak to you", said "no talks only action." In continuation of conversation with Anupama Shenoy, OneIndia said though, it is quite interesting. This never happened in the history of Karnataka police, the way you (Anupama) dealing the whole issue.
For this attempt of pursuing Anupama to talk, she replied "voice of the oppressed". In other words, Anupama meant, she has been oppressed by the political class and her style of protest is the voice of the oppressed.
It is learnt that Anupama has sent text messages to a few scribes. For one journalist who works with leading national daily, she asked to form a Whatsapp group of like-minded journalists to stay away from paid media affiliated scribes. For another journalist associated with a Kannada news channel she said "I am safe, support me".
Shenoy, in her Facebook post has also lambasted against media saying she has been made a joker for news channels' TRP game.
In January last year, Shenoy was transferred from Kudligi for putting call of Parameshwar Naik which Naik denied in the media but exposed when a footage of taking credit for her transfer was surfaced in the media. After this she was reinstated to the same place.
