Karnataka polls: Women voters chose Congress over BJP says survey

At least 47 per cent of the women would vote for the Congress, a new pre-poll survey ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections says. The survey prepared by C fore using the random sampling methodology between April 20 and 30 says that a large number of the women would vote for the Congress.

The poll survey released on Monday also gives the Congress 118 to 128, BJP, 63-73, JD(S), 29-36 and others-2 to 7.

The survey says that 30 per cent of the women would vote for the BJP while in the case of the JD(S) it is 16. The others would bag 7 per cent of the women votes.

In the case of the male voters, the Congress would bag 43 per cent while in the case of the BJP it is 34. 19 per cent of the men would vote for the JD(S) and in the case of the others it is 4 per cent.

Age wise voting:

45 per cent in the age group of 18 to 25 would chose the Congress. In this category for the BJP it is 36 per cent and for the JD(S) it would be 15.

In the 26-35 age group, 47 per cent would chose the Congress and for the BJP it would be 36 per cent. For the JD(S) it stands at 17 per cent.

In the 36 to 50 years category, 42 per cent would chose the Congress. For the BJP and JD(S) is it 33 and 19 per cent respectively. 49 per cent in the age group of above 50 years would chose the Congress where as for the BJP it would be 26 per cent. The JD(S) would get 20 per cent of the votes in this category.

Survey methodology:

C fore conducted the pre-poll survey in Karnataka between April 20th and 30th, 2018 . Systematic random sampling methodology was used in selecting respondents for the survey. In all 6247 voters were interviewed from 61 assembly constituencies covering all regions using a structured questionnaire. Care was taken to ensure that different castes and communities were represented in the sample in their actual proportion. The survey has a margin of error of 2 percentage point at 95 percent confidence level.
