Karnataka: Leopard enters a house in Tumkur, creates panic
Residents of a house in Jayanagar East in Tumkur got the shock of their lives when they woke up on Saturday morning to find a leopard in the house.
Ranganath, the owner of the house, was the one to spot the big cat in his room. While he was terrified at the sight of the animal, he ran out of the room but displaying presence of mind closed the door behind him, trapping the beast inside.
A few hours before the animal entered the house, the forest department had been informed that a leopard was seen Jayanagar area. The forest officials have now laid a trap at the house. Govindaraju, a forest watcher was left injured during the operation.
A crowd has also gathered at the house to catch a glimpse of the leopard. Officials said that the noise from the crowd might have frightened the animal, thwarting efforts of the department to trap it in the cage.
This is not the first time a leopard has strayed into the residential areas in Tumkur. Recently, a leopard had entered the house a nearby locality, say reports.
