Karnataka elections: Yathindra Siddaramaiah wins Varuna constituency
Yathindra Siddaramaiah won comfortably from Varuna constituency, beating his closest rival Thotadappa Basavaraju from the BJP by over 45,000. His father Siddaramaiah vacated the Varuna seat for his younger son.
A pathologist by profession, he has net assets of worth Rs 230030043.0 (23 crores) and liabilities worth Rs. 87847109.0 ( 8 crores). Yathindra is contesting elections with Indian National Congress just like his father.
A Congress bastion, Siddaramaiah, in the last election, easily defeated Karnataka Jana Paksha's (KJP) Kapu Siddalingaswamy and Cheluvaraj of the JD(S) by a comfortable margin of 29,641 votes (18.45 per cent), securing 52.53 per cent of the total votes polled. The seat witnessed a voter turnout of 82.43 per cent.
Yatheendra explained that in the last one-and-a-half years, he has travelled across the constituency familiarising himself with local issues and people.
