Karnataka Elections 2018: Top 5 biggest margin of victory

Five candidates have won their assembly constituencies by the highest margin of votes in the recently concluded Karnataka assembly elections. The list of top five winners includes three BJP and two Congress candidates.

Congress candidate Akhand Srinivas Murthy from Pulakeshinagar constituency topped the list. He won by a margin of 81,626 votes against JDS candidate B Prasanna Kumar. In Pulakeshinagar, Prasanna Kumar got only 15948 votes.

Dr. Ashwath Narayana CN

BJP candidate from Malleswaram constituency, Dr. Ashwath Narayana CN, polled 83130 votes against Kengal Shreepadharenu of Congress. Shreepadharenu secured only 29130 votes. There are a total of 2,13,537 voters in the constituency that includes general voters, NRI voters, and service voters. Amongst the general voters, 1,07,944 are male, 1,05,576 female, and 8 others.

DK Shivakumar

Congress strongman DK Shivakumar won the Kanakapura seat by a margin of 42.93 percent votes. Shivakumar got 127552 votes against Narayana Gowda of JDS. Narayana Gowda polled 47643 votes.

BJP's Haladi Srinivas Shetty

Known as the Vajpayee of Karnataka, BJP's Haladi Srinivas Shetty got 1,03,434 votes against Congress' Rakesh Malli who secured 47029 votes.

In Belgaum Dakshin (South), BJP candidate Abhay Patil secured 84498 votes against Congress MD Lakshminarayan who managed to get 25806 votes.Abhay Patil had polled 48116 votes in 2013 assembly election.
