Karnataka election: 'PM Modi is an angry man, I'm a lightning rod for anger' says Rahul Gandhi
Congress president Rahul Gandhi said 'PM Modi is an angry man' while addressing a press conference on the last day of the election campaign in Bengaluru on Thursday.
Rahul Gandhi said, "He (PM Modi) is angry with everybody, not only me. I am a lightning rod for anger, I attract anger. But that is his problem. It is not my problem. Congress will win hands down, Modi will lose Karnataka."
Rahul Gandhi accused BJP of only making personal attacks and lacking a vision for Karnataka.
''Congress campaigned on fundamental issues. I have learnt a lot from Karnataka in the last few days,'' Rahul Gandhi said in Bengaluru. Rahul said the Congress fought the campaign on fundamental issues, but the BJP failed to tell the people of the state what it will do for them.
On PM Modi's allegation that Congres is anti-Dalit party, he said, "We had said that Dalits are being beaten up and oppressed. When Rohith Vemula is killed Modiji doesn't say a word. When Dalits are killed and humiliated in other parts of India, Modiji doesn't say anything. Congress will defend the rights of Dalits and raise this issue."
"Atrocities against women are absolutely a political and a national issue. Modi likes to discuss bullet train and other issues but does not like to discuss fundamental issues," he added.
"Throughout last 15 years, I've been visiting temples, mosques, gurudwaras, every religious institution I come across. BJP doesn't like this. I don't think they understand the meaning of the term Hindu. It's a perspective. It's something which lives with you throughout., he said one the BJP calling him an 'election Hindu'.
Gandhi also said, ''I am sure we will win the elections in Karnataka. We highlighted our achievements during campaigning, but BJP is not interested in talking about developments. Congress has a vision but BJP makes personal attacks.''
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah tweeted that people of Karnataka will answer on May 12 whether "the son of a cattle grazer can stop Modi in South India".
Siddaramaiah said, "There is no anti-incumbency against my government says Siddaramaiah. The BJP leaders indulged in personal attacks against Rahul Gandhi and me. PM Modi has been making baseless allegations, he also says. The people of Karnataka are very mature, they will reject such lies. The people think Modi has lowered the office of PM."
