The drama in Karnataka is playing out in various parts of the states. It began at Goa, then spread to Bihar and now has reached Manipur as well. Karnataka developments trigger series of reactions in Goa, Bihar and Manipur

In Goa the Congress ended up as the single largest party, but could not form the government. The Congress would parade its 16 MLAs at Raj Bhavan and seek an invite to form the government.

In Bihar the RJD which is the single largest party formed the government with the JD(U). The government was however toppled when Nitish Kumar withdrew support and joined the BJP. He went on to form the government with the BJP. The RJD's Tejaswi Yadav says that they would now stake a claim to form the government on the ground that they are the single largest party. He too is citing the Karnataka example.

In Manipur a similar development is playing out. The Congress which ended up as the single largest party was unable to form the government. The Congress leaders will now meet with the Governor and stake a claim to form the government.

Experts say that this is a chain reaction and legally has no validity. The place to test the strength is the floor of the House. They would need to effect a no-confidence motion first and then stake a claim to form the government. This appears to be a way of protesting and the parties too are aware that it holds no legal sanction, experts also say.
