Karnataka Congress leader caught on cam purportedly misbehaving with woman
A Karnataka Congress leader has landed in a controversy after he was caught on camera touching a woman leader inappropriately. Former President of Madikeri Congress unit and current Chairman of the Silk Board T P Ramesh was caught on camera attempting to hold MLC Veena Achaiah's hand during an independence day function.
A video that is now going viral shows the Ramesh trying to hold on to Veena's hand in full public view. Veena is seen pushing his hand away. Ramesh is seen smiling even as his hand is pushed away by the Congress MLC. The leader's behaviour in public has come under severe criticism.
Speaking to the media after the video went viral, Ramesh justified his acts. "Veena and I are from the same region and she is like my sister. We were only discussing about health issues. My intention was not to touch her inappropriately. The video is being shared to defame me," said Ramesh after being questioned by the media.
The incident is said to have taken place in Madikeri where both leaders along with district administration officials were part of an independence day event. The Congress party has decided to view the footage before arriving at a conclusion. Speaking to media houses, the party's spokespersons assured that action will be initiated against Ramesh if he was found guilty.
It was unclear if Veena had registered a complaint against the leader for his behaviour.
