Kargil, July 24: Dras is that part of Kargil district, that perhaps witnessed the most devastation during the 1999 Kargil war.

India was reportedly unaware that Pakistan had fully planned to capture Dras.

It can be said that the Kargil war was a big lesson for the Indian armed forces as they overhauled the overall security arrangements at the border and also strengthened the soldiers, post Kargil war.

Dras Brigade Commander Brigade GP Singh told OneIndia, "India has emerged as a very powerful and strong nation in last 15 years."

"Army, Navy and Air Force, all three security forces are very strong today. It is impossible to have Kargil like situation in the present scenario", he said.

While citing an example of the Kargil Battle School, he said, "the way Indian soldiers are trained, it clearly indicates that the level of training in the Indian Army has totally changed and is at a higher level. Our soldiers are fully ready to face any kind of difficult situations."

"Since 1999, there have been many improvements in the Indian army and thus the Indian people should be confident that there won't be another Kargil", he further added.
