Kamal Haasan meets Karunanidhi, keeps political pundits guessing
It is not yet clear if the meeting was political or just a courtesy call.
Kamal Haasan is leaving everyone guessing about his foray into the politics. Hours after meeting superstar Rajnikanth, Haasan on Sunday evening met DMK president M Karunanidhi and working president MK Stalin at their residence in Chennai's Gopalapuram.
It is not yet clear if the meeting was political or just a courtesy call. The only thing Haasan has made clear so far is that he would ally with the BJP, as a few months back he had said that "Saffron is definitely not my colour".
Earlier today, Haasan called on Rajnikanth. After the meeting, he did not say in clear terms if the meeting was about politics even after reporters pressed him to divulge the details of meeting.
"It's a courtesy call, not a political meeting. I came to inform him about my political tour. He wished me good luck," Haasan said after the meeting.
When specifically asked if they were thinking about an alliance, Haasan said, "Only time will tell."
Rajinikanth, on his part, said, "Kamal wants to serve the people of Tamil Nadu. I pray to God that he attains success. He has not entered politics for fame or money but only to serve people of the state."
['It was a courtesy call', says Kamal Haasan after meeting Rajinikanth]
Haasan would start touring Tamil Nadu, beginning with his hometown of Ramanathapuram, on February 21. Kamal had also said that he would reveal the name of his party on the same day. He calls this tour a "journey of discovery" during which he will attempt to "understand people's needs and aspirations".
