Kalburgi murder probe: Fresh start with new team of officers
Bengaluru, Jan 29: The probe into the murder of Professor M M Kalburgi is expected to start from scratch. The first round of investigations that was conducted have not yielded any concrete results and this prompted the investigators to take a fresh look into the matter.
A new team of around 20 officers of the Criminal Investigation Department or CID will revisit the entire episode. While at first the thrust of the probe was to look into similarities between this murder and the two others which took place in Maharashtra, this time around the investigators propose to look at the case individually first.
Investigators had found similarities in the murders of Kalburgi, Govind Pansare and Narendra Dabholkar. However since the investigation regarding Pansare and Dabholkar involves other states, the CID feels that they will look into their own backyard first.
A team once again revisited the crime scene and also are scanning all call records that they have collected.
Further the investigators have also got information that the killers had stayed at a hotel in Hubbali. A team will visit the hotel once again to collect more details. We will expand the probe, an officer informed and hence a new team has been constituted he also added.
