K'taka bandh: Protesters hit Bengaluru streets; force shops, autos to freeze operation

Bengaluru, July 30: Pro-Kannada activists after 9 am in the morning gradually started to descend on major roads in the city forcing the shops and auto-rickshaws to stop the business.

Raising slogans against union and Goa governments, activists in city's transport center, Majestic stopped auto-rickshaws, cabs and shut shops. In Shivajinagar, another busiest place of IT city the similar situation prevailed.

In other areas, like Vijayanagara, Nayandahalli and near Town Hall tension gripped as pro-Kannada activists are flocking in huge numbers. However BMTC buses did take the risk of venturing out. But in the morning a few buses tried to steer into the city and it was stopped.

On the other hand, the cops have arrested members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike who attempted to enter the premises of Raj Bhavan.

At 11 am protesters, both from pro-Kannada outfits and Kannada film fraternity will take out a protest march from Town Hall to Freedom Park, while massive security arrangements have been done by the police.
