Judge Loya case being examined with highest level of seriousness: SC
We are examining the case relating to the death of Judge Loya will all seriousness, the Supreme Court has said. We are looking into the matter with the highest amount of seriousness and would consider if the proper procedure was followed in the matter, the court also said.
"We give this the highest amount of seriousness. We treat it like a cause. We do not care what is said outside, but we will do our duty if any fact arouses our suspicion," a bench presided over by Chief Justice Dipak Misra observed.
"We are looking at the matter carefully to see whether there are facts which arouse our suspicion to pass an order for investigation. A member of the judiciary has died. Certain suspicions have been raised. We take this very seriously," the court also said.
The observations were made after advocate, Dushyant Dave questioned the procedure followed by the court in not issuing notices in the matter.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Maharashtra, questioned the timing of the PILs and repeated that the petitioners had got "oblique political motives". He said the matter was raised on the basis of media reports after activist Harsh Mander's plea against the discharge of BJP president Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case, which Loya was hearing, was dismissed by the apex court.
