"We have also taken measures to strengthen our vigilance unit to ensure that the health sector improved from state to district level," Chandrawansi said.

Besides, a committee would also be formed to monitor, he said adding that the committee would comprise a journalist, social activist, a department official and a government representative.

Referring to the prevailing corruption in the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, the minister assured of a comprehensive change in the academic atmosphere in RIMS and necessary steps to put rein on corruption as well as goondaism.

The minister announced that the government would recruit 1200 doctors in the state soon.

Jharkhand Public Service Commission have been asked to make appointment through direct interview instead of holding written test, he said.

He said Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghuvar Das and himself would lay foundation stone of a proposed Medical College in Medininagar in the first week of April.

About 22 acres of land had already been procured for the purpose, Chandrawansi said regretting that the fund for the Medical College remained unutilized for the last ten years due to lack of approach by the previous government.
