Jet Airways hijack scare: Not the first time suspect created ruckus on a flight
After this incident, the government has instructed that Birju be placed under the no-fly list until the matter is investigated thoroughly.
On Monday, a Jet Airways flight had to make an emergency landing at the Ahmedabad airport owing to a security scare. A note was found on the flight in which an explosion was threatened if the plane was not diverted to Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
The authorities identified the suspect as Salla Birju and say that he is a resident of Rajula in Amreli district. This is however is not the first time that Birju has been involved in a plane related incident.
On an earlier occasion, he had created a ruckus on a flight after a cockroach was found in his food. The airline staff however realised that the cockroach was planted and the issue was resolved immediately.
In Monday's incident, the staff of the airline managed to identify Birju to be behind the incident after a roll of toilet paper had gone missing from the restroom. A few minutes after the plane had taken off, the air-hostess realised that an entire roll had to be replaced. When she returned to the restroom to replace the roll, the threat note was found. The staff realised that Birju had used the restroom, immediately after the air-hostess had exited it.
After this incident, the government has instructed that Birju be placed under the no-fly list until the matter is investigated thoroughly.
