Jayanthi attack: Congress dodges, questions timing
New Delhi, Jan 30: Post Jayanthi Natarajan's press meet, Congress was cautious in answering every question thrown at them. Party leader, Sanjay Nirupam, for instance questioned the timing of Natarajan's allegations, relating it to political conspiracy to malign the party ahead of the Delhi elections.
He further said that if she had a problem in the first place, she should have spoken to party president Sonia Gandhi.
"If somebody is planning to leave the party, she has to blame Rahul ji, otherwise there would not be any logic for it," he said.
Mentioning the Vedanta mine issue and the Bhatta Parsaul farmers issue, Nirupam said that Natarajan's allegation against Rahul Gandhi on these issues were baseless and that the latter was always a champion in tribal causes.
Rejecting all claims that she was not given an appointment to meet the Congress leaders, Nirupam said that meeting the party leaders was not a very big deal.
Taking his allegations further, he alleged that Natarajan was about the join the new political outfit flouted by GK Vasan in Tamil Nadu.
