Jat agitation postponed after Haryana CM and Jat leader meet

New Delhi, March 19: The Jat agitation that threatened to cripple Delhi on Monday has been postponed, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Jat leader Yashpal Malik announced on Sunday.

The decision followed several rounds of meetings between the government and prominent Jat leaders. After the protest march was postponed Haryana CM addressed a press conference and appealed to the people that they should cooperate to maintain peace and harmony. He added that Jat reservation process at centre will begin after appointment of chairman and members of National Commission for Backward Classes.

Yashpal Malik, Jat leader said they have suspended Delhi march after agreement with Haryana Government on all issues. He added that, "We've assured government that tomorrow's Delhi Kooch programme has been suspended and now Jats would not come to Delhi." He added that they will take decision on coming protests in a state executive meeting on March 26.

Union minister Chaudhary Birender Singh on suspension of Delhi march said that whatever has happened is in the interest of the government and the Jat community.
