Bengaluru, Dec 23: He was tense, he was nervous but he did not overrule chances of him joining hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir where final assembly election results will be declared shortly. Former separatists Sajjad Lone, who is leading in 2 seats during early trends on Tuesday, Dec 23, expressed his desire to serve the people of the state.

Speaking to media, Lone on Tuesday was quoted as saying, "This is my first Assembly election. I will be very honest with you. I am very nervous."

The 47-year-old separatist-turned-mainstream Kashmiri politician also claimed, "I have all along maintained that we want to maintain a humble entry into the Assembly. It could be one (seat), it could be three, it could be four. We are not looking beyond that. I am keeping my fingers crossed."

Continuing his statement, Lone also mentioned "We have not decided anything as yet. We will also be happy to sit in Opposition, I'd love to sit in the Opposition. The thought of joining hands with BJP has not crossed my mind."

However, early trends showed that even Lone cannot help Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party in Jammu and Kashmir as the BJP was way behind the magic number 44 which is required to form the government in the state.
