Earlier in the day, an 18 year old boy was killed after security personnel fired pellets and burst tear gas shells in South of Kashmir.

The incident took place as the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh landed in the state to review the security situation. The youth identified was Amir Gul and he succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. The death toll has now risen to 69.

Call for Amnesty International:

In another development, the Jammu and Kashmir high court bar association has requested Amnesty International and other human rights groups to visit Kashmir. The association called on the NGOs to assess the situation in the state and report about the human rights violations.

The statement by the Bar was released following the death of Gul. In a statement the association said that they want to tell the people of the world who have respect for human rights that the struggle of the people of Kashmir for achieving their right of self -determination, guaranteed to them by 27 Security Council Resolutions is indigenous and neither is it sponsored by any group or country nor are any pecuniary considerations involved in it.
