J&K: One terrorist gunned down in Kupwara
Srinagar, July 26: Security forces on Thursday gunned down one terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara region. The gun battle between the terrorists and security forces began a few hours ago in Kupwara's Handwara area. The encounter is still said to be underway.
Yesterday (July 26), the security forces gunned down two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag region. One of the slain terrorists was identified as one Bilal Ahmad Dar.
Earlier this week, the Army had gunned down three LeT terrorists who had abducted and killed Constable Saleem Shah of the Jammu and Kashmir police. The encounter had taken place at the Wani Mohalla locality of Khodweni, around a kilometre away from where Saleem's body had been found.
Hours after the killing of Saleem, the Forces got information about the presence of these three terrorists. It was learnt that they were hiding in a house, following which the area was cordoned off. The encounter took place at around 5.30 am on Sunday. The terrorists returned fire and even made a bid to escape from the house. The forces who had cordoned off the entire area, burnt down the house, following which the game was up. In the encounter two locals and one Pakistani terrorist was killed.
