Srinagar, Nov 17: In wake of frequent unrests and closure of schools, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Government has decided to mass promote the students from class fifth till ninth and 11th standards.

The state government has also waived off term-2 (year ending) examinations for students of class eighth, ninth and 11th.

Students

Earlier this week, educational activity in the Valley seemed liked crawling back to normalcy after nearly 95 per cent of the 32,000 students appeared for Class XII board examinations.

The schools in the valley had remained shut for over four months due to the unrest following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen 'commander' Burhan Wani.

Protests, intermittent violence and long stretches of curfew threw normal life out of gear. Students were severly affected by this.

During this period, as many as 25 schools, mostly government run, were gutted in fires in Kashmir.
