Jammu and Kashmir, Mar 18: A last ditch attempt to form a government at Jammu and Kashmir have failed with the BJP's Ram Madhav saying that the new demands by the PDP cannot be accepted.
Following the death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed the coalition between the BJP and PDP had run into troubled waters.
Mehbooba Mufti who heads the PDP had put forth several demands and some of them were not acceptable to the BJP. While the BJP was ready to accept several demands which included additional funds to the state some other demands were not acceptable.
During the last meeting of the PDP workers some of them requested Mehbooba to put a government in place. However she remained adamant and even told the workers that they were free to quit. She also said that she was ready to face the elections alone.
Madhav also said that it is the duty of the PDP to chose a new chief ministe. He said, no new demands can be accepted now.
The demands which we had agreed to can be met only once a government is formed he also added. Madhav however added that with the existing demands from the PDP the government cannot be formed.
He further stated that the BJP would want to continue following the agreements that they had decided on with Mufti Mohammad Saeed.
