New Delhi, Aug 2: It is too early to say but the government is getting ready for 2019 Lok Sabha elections by cajoling Dalit community with all issues concerning the community, advocating Other Backward Classes (OBC) sub quota matter, taking up corruption matters and lastly the issue of infiltration. These can be corroborated from the decisions taken by the government not only at the government level but at the organisational of the ruling party.

Sources in the government informed that the decision of the government to amend SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act that was nullified by the Supreme Court order on March 20 is to keep the community in good humour. The OBC Sub Quota Bill will break the hegemony of some strong group within the group benefiting the ruling dispensation.

But the government seems to be reeping maximum benefit from the infiltration issue by publishing National Register for Citizenship (NRC) in which over 40 lakh people living in Assam fail to get their names in it and corruption issue to be by bringing Vijay Malya and other fugitives to India.

Since Dalits are an important factor across the country so not only the government but the ruling party is treading on the matter very cautiously. The recent cabinet decision on SC/ST Act is one such move and similarly some appointments in the BJP organisation and some more to come also tells the real story about the party where it is heading to. Sources say that the government is serious about getting the OBC sub quota bill passed that would give the party a huge electoral dividend.

Sources also said that narrative built around infiltration will definitely give the BJP an edge over others as this will polarize majority votes towards the party. This is the reason that the BJP is taking the matter of National Register of Citizenship very seriously and state president of the West Bengal BJP Dilip Ghosh had gone up to the extant of saying that if the BJP comes to power in the state it will do the Assam in West Bengal.

The government submission to the court on the issue of Rohingya that they are not refugees but infiltrators tells the one more tale. Political analysts feel that NRC is such an issue that will definitely polarize majority votes in favour of the BJP with its pan-India impact but it will have adverse impact also that will bring all BJP adversaries together.

Another thing that the BJP is looking at as an election issue is bringing people like Vijay Malya, Mehul Choksi and other offenders to the country by making the corruption an issue. The aggressive posturing of the government in London and other places where these economic offenders have fled is quite visible. This shows the government resolve against the corruption. They government may also try to link these corruption issue with the poverty.
