Ishrat Jahan was part of terror plot: Ex-IB officer Rajinder Kumar
Kumar reiterates,"I have sufficient evidence to prove that the CBI is false. All four of them were part of a terror plot." In fact, this was the first statement by him since the chargesheet by the CBI, accusing him of cold-blooded murder.
He further states,"I have done single-handedly for the protection of national security more than most others. We are not vultures to kill or target innocent people. We are human beings. We know how to save lives. We will defend ourselves."
In a parallel chargesheet the CBI also accused Kumar of supplying weapons for the fake encounter and also planting an AK-56 at the site of the encounter.
In a 200 page chargesheet, there is no mention of the alleged involvement of the officers directly, which is expected to enhance the tension between the two agencies. The IB, however has admitted that its officers had alerted the Gujarat police of suspicion that Ishrat and the others could be affiliated to the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, its officers did not authorize or participate in the killing.
The CBI had released its first chargesheet in July last year, stating seven senior policemen of murdering Ishrat and the others "in cold blood".
